Ebmols kann ich net schlofe,
Un ich winsch, ich haett en Licht.
Es guckt ee wennich schpuckich,
un ich mehn, ich seh en Gsicht.
Die Schadde sin so zackich,
un grinsich in der Eck,
un ich drick hatt die Aage zu,
un winsch sie waerre weg.
Wann der Mond scheint darrich die Fenschder,
un ganz dunkel iss es net,
mehn ich ebmols, ass eppes schteht,
yuscht newwich an meim Bett.
Die Mammi saagt, ‘sis Dummheit,
wann ich waer en guder Bu,
daet mich in der Nacht nix baddere,
un schteere in der Ruh.
Der Daadi dutt yuscht lache,
saagt, es gebt nix in der Nacht,
ixcept die Boi un Kuche,
ass mich ebmols wackrich macht.

I just watched your video on Present Progressive (PA Dutch 101: Video 19 – Present Progressive.m4v)
I speak a dialect from the Palatine region quite similar to Pennsylvania German.
In our dialect the position where the “am” of “am spiele” is placed in the sentence, does not depend on singular or plural, but on the question if there is an article before the “other stuff” or not.
Therefore it is:
“Sie sin am Kieh melge.” (They are milking cows.)
but
“Sie sin die Kieh am melge.” (They are milking the cows.)
How is this in your language?
Would you say: “Sie sin am die Kieh melge.”
In my dialect this sounds odd.

Maybe the video wasn’t clear. We do use the same word order as your dialect. I would say “Sie sin die Kieh am melke.” Gross Dank fer dei Comment!
